London City Antiques has dated this Yew Wood Windsor Armchair to the 1860s.
The shaped arm supports and turned legs are united by a crinoline stretcher giving both strength and elegance.

The beautifully figured solid yew seat is undoubtedly the highlight of the piece displaying outstanding grain patterns, burrs, knots and rich natural colour that have developed over generations. The continuous arm rail also exhibits wonderful figuring and patination.

Windsor chairs were originally designed as practical everyday seating valued for their comfort, durability and lightweight construction. Today they remain among the most sought-after forms of English country furniture and are equally suited to traditional and contemporary interiors.

A particularly decorative example with excellent proportions and remarkable timber throughout.
