We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian hall chairs were designed specifically for placement in entrance halls to provide seating for waiting visitors or servants. Typically constructed from hard timber without upholstery, they served both a practical purpose and as a visual indicator of household status.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut. Construction methods relied on traditional mortise and tenon joinery, hand-turned legs, and carved architectural panels.

Authentic examples feature natural wear on the seat surface, hand-carved detailing, and age-consistent patination on the timber. Inspection of the underside often reveals traditional hand-saw marks and original peg or wedge joinery.

An antique oak hall chair functions as a focal accent piece in narrow hallways, landings, or unused corners. Its structured wood profile contrasts effectively against modern painted backdrops or neutral plaster finishes.

Dusting should be performed regularly using a soft, dry cloth along carved recesses. Periodic application of a high-quality beeswax polish preserves the timber and maintains the existing patination without causing build-up.
