Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Blue and white transferware is earthenware decorated using a copper-plate printing process developed in England during the late 18th century. Cobalt blue pigment was favoured because it withstands the high firing temperatures required for underglaze decoration.

Georgian transferware was primarily crafted from earthenware or pearlware, finished with a clear lead glaze over the cobalt blue printed pattern. The lightweight clay body was shaped by pressing or casting before receiving the tissue paper transfer print.

Authentic pieces often feature maker marks stamped or impressed on the base, minor misalignments or seams in the transfer print, and subtle crazing in the glaze. The colour tone of the cobalt blue glaze and the weight of the earthenware body also indicate age.

Tureens function well as decorative centrepieces on sideboards, open kitchen dressers, or dining tables. They can be displayed as standalone sculptural objects or filled with seasonal greenery.

Clean earthenware by hand using warm water and a mild detergent, avoiding prolonged soaking or abrasive sponges. Keep pieces away from dishwashers and sudden temperature changes to prevent glaze cracking or staining.
