Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Armchairs produced around 1900 often combine historical revival influences, such as Queen Anne or Georgian elements, with walnut frames. Common features include elegant cabriole legs, padded leather upholstery, brass stud trim, and shaped armrests designed for comfortable reading or desk use.

Pieces from this era typically utilise solid walnut or mahogany frames, natural leather hide upholstery, brass close-nail studding, and traditional horsehair or coil spring stuffing.

Authentic period chairs display signs of age-appropriate patination on the leather, hand-carved details along the frame, traditional brass tacks rather than continuous studding strips, and solid joinery techniques under the seat frame.

A pair of leather armchairs can flank a minimalist side table to create a balanced reading nook, or sit opposite a modern sofa to add rich texture, natural timber tones, and historic character to a living room.

Keep the wood and leather away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent cracking or fading. Nourish the leather periodically with a dedicated leather balm and clean the walnut frame using a soft cloth and natural beeswax.
