Framed oil on Panel by the English artist Gerald Ellis - signed and inscribed on the rear. The panel is mounted in a good quality frame and slip.

Gérald Ellis (1920–1998) was a British and European painter best known for his vivid, post-impressionistic, and abstract oil paintings. His diverse portfolio features a strong emphasis on equestrian imagery, coastal views, and European cityscapes. While biographical records regarding his early life and formal education remain sparse, his legacy survives through a consistent footprint in international art auctions. Ellis's work is characterised by dynamic brushstrokes and a diverse approach that bridged representation with abstraction.

He earned recognition as a prominent figure in 20th-century equestrian painting. His work captured the kinetic speed of horse racing and hunting, seen in pieces like Jockeys au paddock, Jockeys et Chevaux, and Chasse à courre. He also painted classic European travel destinations, heavily focusing on ports, canals, and waterfronts.
