Description

A lovely solid silver Albertina - the more decorative version of the Albert watch chain used by Victorian gentlemen and named for Queen Victoria's husband. Albertina chains were usually much prettier, with decorative ornaments such as tassels, and were worn as jewellery rather than pure functional items.

This piece is adorned with a substantial T bar and a fox-chain tassel fob.

SIZE: The main section up to the T bar measures just over 20cm (approx eight inches) - it can wrap around the wrist nicely as a bracelet with the tassel section hanging down. There is an additional three inches for the dangling chain and tassel fob.

WEIGHT: 15.1g.

MATERIALS: Silver.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: None. Tests as sterling silver.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition with minor surface wear normal for the age of the piece.

ERA: Estimated late Victorian/Edwardian (c.late 1800s-1914).
