Miles Griffiths Antiques Ltd has dated this Antique Oak Bench Seat to the 19th Century.
Very good quality and featuring turned back supports with a central plaque with a carved dove of peace. In superb, strong and original condition, the long seat is traditionally upholstered with all the innards intact and in good order, ready for a new finishing fabric. This Gillow antique banquette stands on four well turned legs that have a connecting H stretcher. One of the legs has the makers stamped Gillow. Dates to around 1860, a design by the Scottish designer Bruce James Talbert. The seat is 50cm high.
