Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A corner washstand is a piece of space-saving furniture originally designed during the eighteenth century to hold a basin and pitcher for personal hygiene. Constructed with a right-angled back to fit flush against two walls, these stands typically include a splashback, a lower tier, and occasionally a small drawer for toilet accessories.

Georgian corner washstands were predominantly built using dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, valued for its rich grain and durability. High-grade examples feature decorative boxwood or satinwood stringing inlay, dovetailed pine or oak drawer linings, and cast brass knobs or pulls.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on internal drawers, hand-planed secondary timbers underneath, and natural unevenness from age-related wood movement. Look for fine hand-applied line inlay rather than printed transfers, along with signs of genuine wear around the lower legs and base.

An antique corner washstand functions well as a decorative plant stand, a display table for ceramics, or an occasional side table in a hallway or cloakroom. Utilizing an empty corner helps maximize floor space while introducing warm timber tones to modern schemes.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft microfibre cloth following the wood grain. Protect the surface from moisture and direct sunlight, applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the wood and prevent delicate inlays from lifting.
