Scandinavian Birch Art Deco Pedestal Desk

1920 - 1940
Description

Scandinavian birch art deco pedestal desk circa 1930.

We are pleased to offer this stunning swedish birch desk from the art deco period, comprising of 3 sections, writing surface and 2 pedestals.

Rectangular top veneered in a tiger birch, inset triangular panels and border, further decorated with a contrasting moulded edge each end.  fitted with 3 drawers below the top surface, middle drawer with hand carved handle flanked either side by a drawer which opens on the key.  desk offers a comfortable knee height and knee width.   each pedestal is decorated with panels and applied contrasting moulding which compliments the top.   right hand side pedestal is fitted with 4 oak drawer slides, left hand side fitted with 2 oak shelves, which can slide out.  all raised on a plinth bases.

Working locks and key.

Recently re-polished by hand in our workshop.  very minor small age splits to veneer to top surface.  replaced shelves to pedestal using solid oak.
