Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Globe Wernicke stacking bookcase is a modular system invented in the late nineteenth century, comprising self-contained wooden shelf units that interlock vertically. Designed primarily for legal professionals, each section features a glass door that lifts and slides back into the cabinet to protect books from dust and moisture.

These bookcases were predominantly constructed from solid oak, mahogany, or walnut, featuring glass panel fronts, internal metal scissor mechanisms, and brass knobs or side banding to hold the modular sections securely together.

Authentic pieces usually feature paper or printed metal labels inside the back panel of each section, standardized metal interlocking straps along the side profiles, and smooth-operating retractable glass doors with internal scissor guides.

Position the bookcase against a neutral wall in a home office, hallway, or living area. The glazed compartments allow for dust-free storage of books, ceramics, or curated collectibles, blending traditional woodwork with contemporary decor.

Clean the glass panels using a lint-free cloth and standard glass cleaner, taking care not to saturate the timber frames. Apply a clear beeswax polish to the oak surfaces annually and keep the internal metal door mechanisms free of debris.
