ABOUT
Guillaume Coustou , French 1677 ~ 1746, the original Marly horses or 'Chevaux de Marly' were made by Guillaume Coustou for the Palace of Marly in 1740-45 and represented the wild and free forces of nature.
They achieved celebratory status especially during the Napoleonic wars and came to be seen as an allegory of France and glory in war.
