Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian silver mounted cologne bottle typically features a glass body fitted with a sterling or silver-plated collar and stopper. Produced predominantly during the late nineteenth century, these vanity items combined functional fragrance storage with ornate metal decorative work.

These vessels were primarily constructed using hand-blown or moulded clear, cut, or textured glass, accented with sterling silver or silver-gilt fittings. Stoppers often contained internal glass daubers or cork linings to preserve volatile perfumes.

Authentic pieces generally display hallmark stamps on the silver mount, indicating the maker, purity, assay office, and date letter. The glass may show minor wear on the base consistent with age, alongside hand-finishing marks.

Display the bottle on a bathroom tray, a bedroom vanity table, or a dressing room shelf. Grouping it alongside complementary antique glass vessels or polished brass accessories enhances its tactile and reflective properties.

Clean the silver mount gently using a soft cotton cloth and specialist silver polish, avoiding contact with harsh liquid cleaners. Wash the glass interior carefully with lukewarm water and mild detergent, ensuring no water remains trapped in metal crevices.
