Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late 18th-century Georgian card tables are characterised by their demilune or fold-over tops designed to rest against a wall when not in use. Influenced by Neoclassical designers such as Hepplewhite and Sheraton, they typically feature refined timber veneers, geometric inlaid stringing, and slender tapered legs.

Primary construction relied on high-quality dense mahogany veneers laid over solid oak or pine carcasses. Decorative detailing frequently incorporated contrasting timber inlays such as satinwood, boxwood, and ebony, alongside wool baize playing surfaces internally.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn timber marks, and natural age oxidation on unpainted surfaces. Look for original brass hinges, gate-leg or rear-leg extension mechanisms, and genuine wear patterns along the feet and top edges.

A matched pair functions exceptionally well when placed symmetrically in an entryway or flanking a hallway door. When folded closed, their flat backs sit flush to wall surfaces, providing a shallow profile suitable for displaying table lamps, glassware, or decorative ceramics.

Keep mahogany furniture away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent veneer movement and colour fading. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year with a soft cotton cloth, dusting regularly in the direction of the wood grain.
