Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian snap-top table, also known as a tilt-top or loo table, features a hinged circular or oval top attached to a central pedestal. A brass catch mechanism allows the top to tilt vertically when not in use, enabling the table to be stored against a wall to conserve space in nineteenth-century reception rooms.

Victorian cabinetmakers predominantly utilised high-grade hardwoods such as Brazilian rosewood, mahogany, and walnut. These pieces frequently feature cut veneers to highlight dramatic grain patterns, supported by solid timber central columns, block pedestals, and cast brass release latches.

Authentic nineteenth-century examples feature distinct construction markers, including original brass spring-loaded snap catches, solid block trunnion hinges, and hand-carved details on the pedestal and feet. Rosewood pieces display distinct dark brown to reddish tones with prominent black grain streaks and a traditional French polish finish.

A Victorian rosewood tilt-top table functions effectively as a focal point in an entryway, dining area, or living room alcove. The deep tones of the timber contrast well with pale walls, contemporary seating, and tailored modern upholstery.

To preserve rosewood furniture, place it away from direct sunlight and modern heat sources to prevent wood movement and veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a clean microfiber cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish occasionally to nourish the timber and maintain the French polished surface.
