Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency games tables, dating from roughly 1811 to 1830, are characterised by classical proportions, clean geometric silhouettes, and refined timber veneers. Designed for social drawing rooms, these pieces often feature D-shaped tops, tapered legs, and dual-purpose functionality as both decorative consoles and card tables.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid and veneered mahogany, prized for its dense grain and rich hue. The interiors of the opened tops were typically lined with wool felt or silk velvet baize, while internal mechanisms relied on brass hinges and swivel or gate-leg supports.

Authentic Regency examples display hand-sawn secondary timbers, such as pine or oak, visible underneath the framework. Original brass card-table hinges, authentic surface patina, hand-cut dovetail joinery in internal well compartments, and natural wear around support joints indicate genuine age.

Position the table closed against a hallway wall or behind a sofa as an entryway or console table, topped with modern lamps or ceramics. The versatile swivel top allows the piece to be opened for extra surface area when hosting gatherings.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish along the grain twice a year. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and high-humidity areas to prevent wood movement, veneer lifting, or finish fading.
