Ritas Bazaar has dated this Meissen Porcelain Amor Figure to the Edwardian era.

The figure is shown seated in a slightly turned pose, holding a stylised bow. The anatomy is softly modelled, with smooth transitions and a controlled, calm facial expression. The treatment of the hair and proportions reflects Scheurich’s characteristic approach, where form and balance take precedence over elaborate detailing.

The piece is executed in pure white glazed porcelain (Blanc de Chine), where the absence of colour places full emphasis on modelling and surface. This type of production represents Meissen’s early 20th-century shift toward more restrained, sculptural interpretations of traditional Rococo subjects such as putti and Amor figures.

The underside bears the underglaze blue Meissen crossed swords mark, together with impressed crossed swords, an impressed model number, and the incised German word “weiss”, a factory designation used specifically for white Meissen porcelain. These combined marks are consistent with authentic factory production of the period.

Paul Scheurich’s work for Meissen forms an important part of the factory’s early modern output. His models are held in major museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and are recognised for their balance between decorative tradition and sculptural modernity.

This figure represents a desirable collector’s example, combining a recognised sculptor, Meissen manufacture, and excellent state of preservation.
