Early Victorian Mahogany Library Steps

A set of early Victorian mahogany library steps with concealed compartment and leather treads c.1840. Substantial mahogany veneered construction with two steps; the top step with lifting lid opening to reveal a storage compartment. Each step with black tooled hide treads and the fronts of the steps with ebony strung decoration forming a panel to each. The steps sat on small turned mahogany legs. Measures 17" wide x 22.5" deep x 10" high to bottom step and 19" high to top step.
