Inlaid Mahogany Tub Armchair

Description

A particularly elegant Edwardian mahogany tub armchair of refined proportions, beautifully decorated throughout with intricate satinwood and harewood inlay. The shaped shield-form back is finely adorned with scrolling foliate marquetry incorporating urns, trailing vines and stylised birds, all framed within delicate boxwood stringing.

The chair features a gracefully swept horseshoe-shaped top rail flowing into slender open arms, above a generously proportioned serpentine seat newly upholstered in a soft golden woven fabric with decorative braid edging. The frieze and front legs are further enriched with matching inlaid ornament, complementing the decorative back panel beautifully.

Raised on elegant tapering cabriole legs terminating in pad feet.
