Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Hepplewhite style dining chairs, originating in late 18th-century Britain, are distinguished by their graceful shield-shaped, oval, or heart-shaped backs, delicate carved central splats, and slender straight or tapered legs.

These chairs were traditionally crafted from solid mahogany or satinwood, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, intricately carved back splats with wheat sheaf or feather motifs, and upholstered seats often finished with brass studding.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut joinery, subtle variations in hand-carved ornamentation, original patination on the timber, and construction details such as pegged joints and hand-planed underside rails.

Pair a set of shield-back mahogany chairs with a modern minimalist dining table or a neutral marble surface to create a balanced contrast between classical craftsmanship and contemporary interior design.

Preserve mahogany woodwork by dusting regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish annually, while avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to heat sources.
