Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Victorian era, parlour games and card playing were central social activities within middle and upper-class households. Tables were engineered specifically for this purpose, featuring space-saving fold-over tops and interior compartments for playing pieces.

These tables were commonly crafted using dense hardwoods such as rosewood, walnut, or mahogany over solid timber frames. Construction featured hand-cut joinery, turned and carved central pedestals, and internal baize playing surfaces.

Authentic mid-19th-century pieces display period-correct construction markers such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass castors, hand-carved pedestal detail, and age-related wear or oxidisation to the underside of the timber.

When closed, the table serves as a hallway console or sofa table. Placing a contemporary lamp, ceramic vase, or framed artwork on top integrates the period wood tone into modern design schemes.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, radiators, and moisture to prevent veneer lifting or warping.
