Edwardian Neoclassical Drop-leaf Table

Description

A charming Edwardian satinwood drop‑leaf table of neat proportions, beautifully decorated and in excellent antique condition. The oval top is finely hand‑painted with delicate floral and bow garlands bordering a central oval reserve depicting two cherub‑like putti. The frieze contains a single drawer with its original brass handles, framed by hand‑painted decoration that continues around the entire apron. The table stands on elegant tapering legs, each finely fluted and capped with carved floral motifs at the shoulder, united by shaped stretchers meeting at a turned central finial. The whole piece is raised on brass castors for ease of movement. The satinwood has developed a rich, mellow tone with beautifully figured grain. A highly decorative piece that would sit beautifully in a hallway, drawing room, or bedroom, bringing a touch of Edwardian elegance to any interior.
