Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver flatware, produced between 1901 and 1910, often combines classical 18th-century revival motifs with refined, lighter proportions. Silversmiths of this period frequently utilized delicate foliate, ribbon, and classical scroll motifs cast or chased onto handles.

Sterling silver salad servers were typically forged or stamped from high-purity silver alloy containing 92.5% pure silver. Handles and bowls were either wrought from a single piece of silver or assembled with cast terminals before hand-finishing and hallmarking.

Authentic British silver bears a set of official hallmarks: the lion passant indicating sterling purity, a city assay mark (such as the leopards head for London or anchor for Birmingham), a specific date letter denoting 1903, and the registered mark of the silversmith.

Antique silver serving pieces can be integrated into contemporary dining settings alongside minimalist ceramic dinnerware or displayed upright in glass vessels on a dining sideboard to add textural contrast.

Sterling silver should be washed by hand in warm soapy water using a soft cloth, then thoroughly dried. Occasional cleaning with a specialized silver polish removes tarnish without damaging the underlying metal surface or detailed chasing.
