Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-nineteenth-century Rococo Revival furniture features fluid, curving lines inspired by eighteenth-century French design. Centre tables from this era frequently incorporate serpentine-edged marble tops, deeply carved pedestals, and cabriole or scroll-form tripod bases.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilized dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, prized for their rich grain patterns and durability for carving. Tops were frequently fitted with polished white or grey-veined statuary marble.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-carved detailing with subtle irregularities, original hand-cut dovetail or screw joinery beneath the apron, and natural wear patterns on the underside of the wooden frame and unpolished underside of the marble slab.

Place the table as a central focal point in an entryway or within a wide window alcove. Modern styling benefits from pairing the polished stone and dark carved wood with contemporary glass or ceramic vessels to create tactile contrast.

Dust the wood regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply natural beeswax annually along the grain. Clean the marble top using only pH-neutral stone cleaner or damp cloths, avoiding acidic solutions that etch polished limestone surface finishes.
