Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Delftware refers to tin-glazed earthenware decorated with cobalt blue designs, originally produced in Delft in the Netherlands and later across Britain during the 17th and 18th centuries.

These ceramics were shaped from local clay, fired once, coated with an opaque white tin glaze, hand-painted with cobalt oxide, and subjected to a second firing.

Authentic period pieces typically display a buff or reddish clay body visible where glaze has chipped, hand-painted pattern variations, and faint glaze pinholes or fine crazing.

A Delftware bowl can be placed on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or bookshelf to introduce subtle historical character and classical blue-and-white colour accents into contemporary spaces.

Clean gently using a dry, soft microfibre cloth or camel-hair brush, avoiding soaking in water or using harsh chemical cleaners that could penetrate fine glaze crazing.
