Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A tea caddy is a small box or chest designed to store dry tea leaves, originating in Europe in the late seventeenth century when tea was an expensive commodity. These containers were frequently fitted with locks to secure the valuable contents.

Antique tea caddies were predominantly crafted from fine hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, walnut, and rosewood, often featuring brass hinges and foil or fabric linings. Internal compartments typically held individual wooden lids to preserve different tea blends.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct brass hardware, natural wear around the keyhole, and subtle wood shrinkage over time. Original internal lids, lock mechanisms, and intact fabric linings further indicate authenticity.

An antique caddy functions as a refined accent piece when displayed on a sideboard, console table, or bookshelf. It can also serve as decorative storage on a bedside table for jewellery or small daily items.

Dust the wooden exterior regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish periodically to maintain the timber finish. Keep the object away from direct sunlight, damp environments, and heat sources to prevent wood cracking or warping.
