Antique Silver Mounted Crystal Jugs.

Description

Magnificent set of two German silver-mounted crystal lidded jugs; these circular cut-crystal jugs have hinged

silver lids with silver thumbpieces and retractable looped hinge-pins. One has an engraving on the lid indicating it being presented as a prize in Bamberg, Germany, and the lid of the other jug is un-engraved. It suggests that the engraved jug was indeed presented as a prize and so delighted the recipient that a matching jug was purchased. At this time it was usual for wine jugs and pitchers to come in pairs. Very heavy glasswork, in perfect condition, and imposing size, making a stunning spectacle!
