Description

A late Victorian silver mounted claret jug with clear hallmarks for London 1894 and makers mark for John Aldwinkle & Thomas Slater. This fine example features an outsweeping crystal base cut with long thumb sliced and v shaped panels, within diamond and star cut bands above and below. The base is star cut. The jug is silver mounted with collar, spout, handle and support band formed from one piece of silver, with a hinged lemon squeeze lid and decorative knop. The handle is decorated with sinuous leaf and scroll detail. In immaculate condition. This is an outstanding beautifully designed and made example with a good early date.
