Late Victorian Mahogany Pedestal Desk with Original Leather Top

A handsome late Victorian mahogany pedestal desk, dating to the late 19th century, with a beautifully worn original red leather inset top featuring delicate gilt tooling. The desk is well proportioned and highly practical, offering nine drawers in total, including a central frieze drawer and two banks of graduated drawers to each pedestal. The drawers retain their original handles and have a pleasing, consistent patina throughout. Constructed in three sections, the top lifts off the pedestals, making it easier to move and position within the home, an increasingly important feature for modern interiors. The leather top has aged gracefully, developing a rich, timeworn surface that adds considerable character. Condition: In good, solid, and usable condition. There is wear to the leather and surface marks to the timber, along with signs of use to the interior of the drawers, all consistent with age.
