Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chamberstick is a portable candle holder designed with a shallow tray base and a handle, traditionally used during the Victorian era to navigate unlit stairways and corridors at night.

These candlesticks were typically cast from solid brass using sand-casting moulds, after which the components were turned on a lathe, assembled with threaded rods or solder, and hand-polished.

Genuine period examples often display subtle seam lines from hand casting, irregular screw thread patterns on internal fittings, natural wear to the base, and historical solder joins.

Brass chambersticks can be arranged on a fireplace mantelpiece, dining table, or sideboard alongside books and ceramics to introduce warmth and architectural form to modern spaces.

Clean brass using a soft microfibre cloth and a mild brass polish applied sparingly, avoiding abrasive pads or harsh chemicals that can scratch the surface or strip underlying patination.
