Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian mahogany chest of drawers typically features dense mahogany timber, solid drawer construction with dovetail joints, and design details such as turned feet, shaped backboard upstands, and brass or glass knobs.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised solid mahogany and mahogany veneers for external surfaces, combined with pine or oak for internal drawer linings, accompanied by brass lock mechanisms and decorative knobs made of glass or wood.

Authentic period pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass keyhole escutcheons, natural timber movement marks on rear panels, and traditional hand-applied spirit polishes rather than modern synthetic finishes.

A mahogany chest adds historical contrast to contemporary interiors when situated against neutral backdrops, accented with minimalist lighting fixtures, and layered with framed modern art on the wall above.

Maintain mahogany timber by wiping surface dust with a soft lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish periodically, while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture.
