Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the 18th century and produced through the late 19th century, French ormolu mantel clocks are decorative mechanical timepieces housed in gilded bronze cases, frequently accented with hand-painted porcelain panels or classical figurative sculptures.

These timepieces were typically constructed using cast bronze with fire-gilded ormolu finishes, integrated with hand-painted porcelain plaques, brass clock movements, and enamelled dials.

Authentic period examples feature heavy cast bronze casings with hand-chased details, makers stamps on the rear brass movement, and hand-painted decoration rather than modern printed transfers.

Position the clock centrally on a marble mantelpiece, a hallway console table, or a dining room sideboard to serve as a focal point alongside minimalist contemporary artwork or brass candlesticks.

Dust the exterior regularly with a soft, dry brush, avoiding liquid cleaners or abrasive polishes that could damage the gilding, while having the internal movement professionally serviced every five years.
