Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dining chairs from the 1830s, reflecting the late Regency and William IV periods, are characterized by classical proportions, curved top rails, intricate carved splats, and turned or reeded legs. They often incorporated woven cane seats and high-quality dark hardwoods.

Cabinetmakers during this period predominantly utilised imported dark hardwoods, particularly rosewood and mahogany, paired with woven natural cane or horsehair upholstery. Frames were secured using traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Authentic period pieces feature distinct dark grain contrast typical of genuine rosewood, hand-cut joinery, and natural wear along the underside of the seat rails. The carving on splats and reeding on legs should exhibit subtle hand-finished variations rather than machine perfection.

These side chairs function effectively as accent seating in hallways, bedrooms, or alongside a contemporary dining table to create a curated contrast. The warm timber tones pair well with neutral plaster walls and minimalist decor.

Timber surfaces should be dusted with a soft cloth and polished periodically with natural beeswax to retain moisture. Woven cane seats benefit from stable humidity levels to prevent brittleness and should be kept away from direct heat sources.
