Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency dining chairs, dating from the early 19th century, are defined by classical proportions, swept or balloon-shaped backrests, and turned or reeded legs. They frequently feature timber frames crafted from dark woods like rosewood and mahogany, combined with woven cane or drop-in upholstered seats.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency era primarily utilised imported hardwoods such as solid and veneered rosewood, mahogany, and brass inlays. Seats were commonly woven with natural split rattan cane or upholstered over webbing using horsehair padding.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved construction details, traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, original patination on the timber, and hand-woven cane work. Makers such as Gillows often stamped or marked their furniture on the timber frame edges or underside.

Rosewood chairs can be paired with contemporary marble or light oak dining tables to create a balanced, eclectic contrast. Their slim frames and woven cane textures add visual lightness and structural interest to minimalist or transitional room schemes.

Rosewood timber should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources, cleaned with a soft microfibre cloth, and conditioned periodically with beeswax. Woven cane seats benefit from light moisture spraying on the underside to maintain flexibility and prevent brittle splitting.
