Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Enamel butterfly brooches gained widespread popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly within Art Nouveau and Scandinavian enamel jewellery design. Craftsmen utilised guilloche techniques to engine-turn precise pattern motifs into metal before applying translucent enamel.

These pieces are created by engraving detailed geometric patterns onto sterling silver, which is then covered with layers of coloured glass enamel paste and fired in a kiln at high temperatures to fuse the glossy finish.

Authentic period pieces usually feature maker marks or purity stamps such as 925, sterling, or 830 on the reverse. Inspecting the reverse reveals standard pin mechanisms, while the front displays fine hand-engraved texturing beneath the glass glaze.

Small antique jewellery items can be mounted inside velvet-lined shadow boxes, arranged on decorative porcelain trinket trays, or displayed on framed fabric panels as decorative wall accents.

Wipe gently using a dry, soft lint-free cloth to remove surface residue. Avoid liquid chemical cleaners or ultrasonic baths, as sub-surface silver oxidation and glass enamel can be damaged by harsh chemical immersion.
