Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A teapoy is a piece of furniture designed in the 18th and 19th centuries specifically for storing and preparing tea. It typically consists of a small chest or caddy mounted on a central column base, containing lockable compartments for valuable loose tea leaves and sugar.

Regency teapoys were commonly crafted using dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, or walnut, often enhanced with figured veneers. Interior fittings frequently included glass mixing bowls, velvet or foil linings, and brass escutcheons and hinges.

Authentic Regency examples feature classical proportions, sarcophagus or casket-shaped tops, and distinctive timber grain pattern characteristic of rosewood. Look for period-correct construction details such as hand-cut dovetails, original lock mechanisms, and quadform pedestal bases.

A teapoy functions effectively as an accent table or standalone sculpture in a formal living area, study, or hallway alcove. Its small scale and distinctive silhouette allow it to pair seamlessly alongside modern seating while introducing historical depth.

Maintain rosewood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent drying and fading. Regular dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and occasional application of high-quality beeswax will nourish the wood finish.
