Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cast iron tables became widespread during the 19th century following advancements in foundry moulding techniques during the Industrial Revolution. These items feature decorative base castings paired with timber, stone, or slate tops, created for pub interiors, domestic hallways, and conservatories.

These tables feature molten iron poured into sand moulds to form heavy openwork bases, which were frequently combined with solid timber tops such as oak, mahogany, or pine. The iron frameworks were painted or lacquered to prevent oxidisation.

Authentic 19th-century cast iron pieces exhibit crisp casting lines alongside natural surface irregularities, historical layers of paint or patination, and heavy physical weight. They often feature period registration stamps or foundry marks, along with original iron-to-wood fixing points.

Position the piece as an entryway console or hallway table against a neutral wall to emphasize the silhouette of the metalwork. Balance the heavy dark iron base by styling the timber top with minimal ceramics, framed artwork, or fresh greenery.

Dust the cast iron framework regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a light coating of microcrystalline wax to guard against humidity and rust. Maintain the wooden surface with suitable furniture wax to prevent timber drying and discolouration.
