Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A candelabra table lamp combines the structural form of traditional multi-arm candle holders with electric illumination. Popularised during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these lamps frequently feature ornate Rococo or Neoclassical motifs.

Traditional candelabra lamps are constructed from cast brass or bronze using sand casting or lost-wax techniques. Individual elements, including fluted columns and decorative sconces, were hand-chased and secured onto a central threaded steel stem.

Authentic pieces feature natural surface oxidisation, subtle variations from hand-chasing, and period-correct thread sizes. Modern reproductions often use lightweight stamped metal, uniform lacquered finishes, and modern casting marks.

Position the lamp on a dark wood sideboard, console table, or writing desk to serve as a focal point. Pair the brass finish with muted wall tones or textured fabric shades to create contrast within contemporary schemes.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid abrasive polishes that remove historic patina. Unlacquered metal can be treated with microcrystalline wax to protect against accelerated tarnishing.
