Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Pembroke table is a rectangular or oval occasional table introduced in the 18th century, featuring two drop leaves supported by hinged wooden brackets called fly-rails. Named after the Countess of Pembroke, these versatile tables were designed for light dining, writing, or serving tea in English homes.

Regency Pembroke tables were predominantly crafted from fine hardwoods such as satinwood, mahogany, and rosewood. Construction typically incorporated veneer work, marquetry or hand-painted botanical motifs, alongside oak or pine secondary drawer linings and brass hardware.

Authentic late 18th and early 19th-century examples display hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer, original brass handles or ring pulls, and natural age-related patina on the wood. The underside of the leaves should reveal hand-planed surfaces and traditional wooden rule joints along the hinged edges.

An antique Pembroke table functions exceptionally well as a side table adjacent to a sofa or placed within a reading nook. Lowering the side leaves allows it to sit neatly against a wall, while raising them creates additional surface area for display lamps, books, or decorative porcelain.

To preserve painted satinwood, position the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent veneer lifting or paint fading. Clean the surface using a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners.
