Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency style seating from the early 19th century is known for classical Greco-Roman inspirations, elegant curved lines, turned or sabre legs, and reeded arm supports. Backrails often features decorative wood veneers, brass inlays, or carved rope-twist mid-rails.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised high-grade Cuban or West Indian mahogany for its fine grain and rich colour. Decorative accents frequently featured inlaid brass stringing, ebony lines, and hand-carved joinery secured with traditional mortise and tenon construction.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, original wood patination, hand-turned leg profiles, and structural wear consistent with age. Look for genuine brass line inlays set flush into mahogany backrests and hand-carved rope-twist or reeded details.

These versatile armchairs work exceptionally well as desk seating in a study or as accent head chairs at the end of a contemporary dining table. Neutral or textured modern fabric re-upholstery balances the dark wood tone, creating a refined contrast in eclectic spaces.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying high-quality beeswax twice a year in the direction of the grain. Keep chairs away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood drying, joint loosening, and veneer fading.
