Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chinese porcelain vase lamps gained widespread popularity in Western interiors during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries as part of the Chinoiserie movement. European and American decorators frequently converted authentic imported Chinese ceramic vessels into electrified table lamps by adding metal harp mountings and wooden bases.

These lamps are constructed from high-fired kaolin clay porcelain coated in lead-based enamel glazes, known for rich pigmentation such as famille jaune or famille rose. The electrical components typically feature brass fixtures, while the support stands are crafted from carved hardwood.

Authentic pieces feature hand-painted enamel details showing slight human variations, rather than uniform transfer prints. Inspecting the base often reveals drill holes made during electrical conversion, along with characteristic glaze shrinkage, iron spots, and historical wear along the unglazed foot rim.

Positioning a pair on a symmetrical sideboard or console table creates visual balance and gravitas. Pair them with tailored neutral silk shades to keep the focus on the intricate enamel paintwork, allowing them to anchor traditional, maximalist, or contemporary spaces.

Dust the porcelain surface regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush. Avoid liquid cleaning agents or abrasive chemicals, as moisture can harm delicate overglaze enamels and underlying historical wooden bases.
