We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in late 17th-century England, William and Mary furniture is characterised by tall, slender proportions, elaborate scrollwork, vertical splats, and turned legs influenced by Flemish and Dutch aesthetics.

Early oak armchairs were crafted using solid wood joined with hand-cut mortise and tenon joints secured by wooden pegs, without modern adhesives or concealed metal screws.

Authentic period armchairs display irregular hand-planed wood surfaces, peg joinery visible at structural joints, uneven wear on the foot stretchers, and natural oxidisation within the wood grain.

A single period oak chair creates structural contrast when placed against neutral wall finishes, functioning as a focal seating piece alongside modern art or understated textiles.

Keep the timber clean by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a thin coat of natural beeswax polish annually to protect the original patina while keeping it away from direct heat sources.
