Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Geographia Ltd was a prominent British map and globe publisher founded in London during the early 20th century. The company produced educational and commercial globes throughout the mid-20th century, becoming known for detailed cartography and accessible desktop spheres.

Traditional mid-20th-century globes were constructed using a hollow sphere formed from moulded paper mache or plaster. Printed paper segments, known as gores, were manually applied onto the sphere before being sealed with varnish and mounted onto turned timber or metal stands.

Authentic vintage globes feature a cartouche displaying the publisher name and location, along with printed paper gores rather than modern vinyl coverings. Political boundaries, such as historical nation names or colonial borders, help verify the precise era of production.

A desktop globe can be positioned on an office desk, styled among books on a timber shelf, or placed atop a console table alongside vintage brass accessories. Its neutral palette and sculptural silhouette add warm historical character to study and living spaces.

Keep the globe away from direct sunlight, radiator heat, and high humidity to prevent paper warping, cracking, or discolouration. Gently dust the surface using a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoiding liquid cleaners or abrasive wipes that could damage the printed paper gores.
