Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Queen Anne style emerged in England during the early 18th century, characterized by refined proportions, graceful curves, and the extensive use of figured walnut veneers. Key features include bracket feet, cabriole legs, simple understated moulding, and brass drop handles with batwing escutcheons.

Authentic 18th-century kneehole desks were primarily constructed with a pine or oak carcase veneered in figured walnut, burr walnut, or featherbanding. Drawers were crafted with hand-cut dovetail joints and oak linings, completed with solid brass handles and steel locks.

Look for signs of age including hand-sawn timber marks, thick walnut veneers, and hand-cut dovetail drawer construction. Genuine period examples typically exhibit natural surface patination, shrinkage cracks along timber joints, and original brass fittings with natural oxidisation.

A kneehole desk works exceptionally well in modern schemes as a compact home office workstation, a hallway console table, or a bedroom dressing table. Its warm wood tones contrast cleanly against modern neutral walls, heritage paint shades, or contemporary textiles.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the moisture and lustre of the timber. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and damp conditions to prevent timber warping or veneer lifting.
