Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Queen Anne kneehole desk typically features a long top drawer above a recessed central kneehole, flanked by vertical banks of small drawers, resting on bracket feet. Originating in early 18th-century Britain, these compact pieces served as versatile writing tables or dressing tables.

Craftsmen primarily utilised solid oak or pine internal frameworks overlaid with figured walnut or burr walnut veneers. Hardware typically consisted of hand-cast brass drop handles with engraved backplates and brass escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, oak drawer linings with grain running front-to-back, and natural wear patterns on original bracket feet and drawer runners.

Position the desk in a home office, study, or hallway as a focal writing station, paired with a contemporary chair or neutral table lamp to create a sophisticated blend of classic and modern aesthetics.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber veneer. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and intense sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage and fading.
