Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A terrestrial desk globe is a three-dimensional scale model of the Earth, mounted on a stand for display on a table or desk. Popularised during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, these items served both educational purposes and decorative functions within domestic and professional studies.

Historically, globe spheres were crafted from papier-mache or plaster covered with printed paper strips known as gores. These spheres were mounted onto turned wooden or cast metal bases using semi-meridian arcs made of brass or steel.

Authentic antique globes can be identified by examining cartographic features, such as contemporary political boundaries and historical place names. Additionally, natural age signs including yellowed varnish, minor surface craze lines, and hand-turned wooden bases indicate genuine age.

An antique globe is ideal for styling bookshelf displays, office desks, or console tables alongside leather-bound books and brass instruments. It introduces an intellectual, historic element that pairs well with both traditional dark wood interiors and contemporary minimalist spaces.

Preserve a vintage paper globe by keeping it out of direct sunlight and high humidity, which cause fading and warping. Dust gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or camel-hair brush, avoiding wet cleaners or abrasive solvents.
