Aaron Nejad Carpets and Rugs has dated this Antique Persian Fereghan Carpet to the 1890s.
The terracotta anchor medallion which appears to be floating above a sapphire blue sea, is surrounded by flowering vines drawn in an angular style, typical of the best carpets from Fereghan in West Persia. Note too the lovely ivory spandrels with touches of soft green, and the main terractotta border where angular drawing of the floral motifs continues. Its a very elegant composition, and would enhance any setting. It has survived in good condition with minimal signs of wear. Professionally cleaned. The ends and selvages have been secured.
