All Original Solid 9ct Gold Omega 265 Classic from 1951

1940 - 1960
Description

This is a remarkable collectors quality unrestored example of the legendary manual winding Omega 265 from 1951

The only work we have carried out is to service the movement and give the case a light polish with a soft cloth.

The solid 9ct gold case is 34mm in diameter excluding the original crown, a full size gents.

The case edges are sharp and crisp the watch looks like it was kept hidden away in a drawer and rarely worn.

The movement is the legendary Omega calibre 265, Omegas greatest manual winding movement. It has been freshly serviced and is currently running at plus 5 seconds per day , not bad for a 75 year old watch.

The dial is totally original and near perfect it has had no restoration whatsoever.

The hands are matching gold

The hallmarks and movement serial number indicate that this watch was made in 1951.

It measures 34mm in diameter without the winding crown.

The perfect gift for someone turning 75 this year.

Its the most original and perfect unrestored and complete example you will ever see.

We can fit almost any colour or style of strap you prefer.

This is one of the best and most original examples we have ever seen

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-20th-century Omega wristwatches are recognised for precision engineering, particularly manual-wind movements like the Calibre 265, which represented a golden era of Swiss watchmaking in the post-war period.

High-grade timepieces from this era were typically constructed with solid 9ct or 18ct gold cases, acrylic crystals, metallic dials with applied markers, and leather straps.

Authenticity is verified by hallmarked stamps inside the case back, movement serial numbers corresponding to manufacture years, and brand markings on the dial, movement, and winding crown.

A classic gold dress watch complements formal tailoring, business attire, or elevated smart-casual outfits, adding refined mid-century character to personal styling.

Keep the watch clear of moisture and strong magnetic fields, wind the movement steadily until resistance is felt, and arrange professional servicing every three to five years.
