Description

A good example of a mid to late 17th Century English oak 'back stool' chair, most likely originating from Yorkshire. It stands on turned legs joined by stretchers and it has a panelled back with carved work to the crest rail.

It has a wonderful rich colour and patination. There are some historic repairs to the bottom of the legs and the seat but nothing untoward or detrimental and it is a solid and sturdy chair. There are various signs of age and use and some knocks and marks here and there, particularly to the top of the back (see photos) but no major damages and it displays beautifully.

The chair stands approximately 39 1/2" (100cm) high, the seat is 18" (46cm) wide, 14 1/2" (37cm deep) and 16" (41cm) high.
