Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this Georgian Mahogany Library Table to the Georgian era.
The drawer is opened by a neatly shaped indentation in the rail adjacent to the bottom edge of the drawer. The immaculate top in this instance is protected by means of a sheet of glass cut to size and rounded for safety. The four bun feet each inset with castors.
The twin pillar supports, each turned and reeded can be compared with documented examples (see ‘Gillows of Lancaster & London 1730-1840” by Susan E Stuart Volume II, p. 396 Plate GG69 for near exact comparison. Also, Volume I p.292 Plate 311). The Pillar end table conforms to a popular design first illustrated on 28 November 1827, but with a leather top.
