This is of beautiful quality and is a very useful size, with lots of useful storage space in the three drawers. This has a lovely breakfront shape to the front, it stands on finely tapered legs and has high quality brass handles.

We have recently had this stripped and re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age with just some minor wear and historical patina remaining beneath the polish here and there.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian console tables are defined by symmetrical proportions, clean lines, and high-grade Cuban or West Indian mahogany. Produced during the 18th century, they typically feature square tapered or cabriole legs, stepped or breakfront aprons, and brass drawer hardware.

The primary timber for Georgian tables was mahogany, valued for its durability, grain figure, and warm colour. Secondary timbers such as pine or oak were used for internal drawer linings, accompanied by solid brass handles and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic Georgian tables feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original pine or oak secondary drawer woods, and hand-planed underside surfaces. The timber will show natural patination, minor shrinkage, and historical wear consistent with age.

A Georgian console table functions well in an entryway, hallway, or behind a sofa. Decorators balance the dark mahogany wood by pairing the piece with contemporary artwork, minimalist lamps, or modern ceramics.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying beeswax once or twice a year to nourish the finish. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent warping and timber bleaching.
